Does Kompas train on my sessions?

Never. On Free desktop, your sessions, notes, and graph stay on your device; the only network calls are to the LLM providers you choose, under their own data policies. On Pro, your graph is hosted privately by Kompas to enable cross-device sync — we still do not train on your content.

How is this different from ChatGPT or Claude?

Those are tools you talk to. Kompas is a place where your conversations, documents, and half-finished arguments live together — and surface themselves when today's thought brushes against something from last month.

Which LLM does Kompas use?

On Free and Pro Sync, bring your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key, your Claude Code or Codex subscription, or run local models via Ollama. Realtime voice and audio transcription require an OpenAI key. On Pro Full, frontier AI is built in via Kompas Cloud — no personal key needed. Any personal API keys you saved go inactive while Pro Full is active and reactivate automatically if you cancel.

Is Kompas open source?

Yes. The desktop app is open source under the MIT license. Cloud-only code — billing, hosted models, and abuse detection — lives in a separate private repository.

What happens if I cancel Pro?

Pro features keep working until the end of the current paid period, then the desktop falls back to Free mode: any personal API keys you had saved are reactivated, sync stops, and your local data stays intact. Your hosted graph is kept for a 30-day grace period — re-subscribe within that window and sync resumes from where it left off; export to JSON at any time before purge.

Does Kompas have a web app?

No — Kompas is always a desktop app. Pro adds cross-device sync and frontier AI to the desktop binary, served by Kompas Cloud. The browser is only used for sign-up, account, and billing pages.
